The Midlands Minority Business Accelerator (MMBA) is a prominent economic development tool of the Columbia Chamber, working in collaboration with the South Carolina Minority Business Accelerator (SCMBA). Formed by the Greenville Chamber, Charleston Metro Chamber, and the Columbia Chamber, the SCMBA is a statewide initiative supported by a seed grant from Bank of America. This initiative aims to foster economic inclusion and address disparities faced by minority-owned businesses, providing opportunities for growth and prosperity by enhancing the competitiveness of minority businesses across the Midlands region.
MMBA maximizes the transformative potential of the award-winning StreetWise 'MBA'™ curriculum, providing a comprehensive 100-hour program spread over a calendar year. Through 14 in-class sessions, CEO mentoring groups, and the application of the Interise live-case analysis method, participants engage in a year-long immersive journey. This journey empowers minority-owned businesses by guiding them in developing a customized three-year Strategic Growth Action Plan™. With a focus on job maintenance, creation, and quality, as well as revenue growth and increased access to capital, MMBA equips participants with the tools and support necessary for sustainable growth. By offering business development services, targeted training, and access to partnership opportunities with large corporations, MMBA drives economic development and wealth creation, ensuring the success of small businesses in the Midlands region.
