The Columbia Chamber is proud to name the South Carolina State Fair as the February Partner of the Month. The SC State Fair, who celebrated their 150th anniversary last year, has been a loyal and faithful member of the Columbia Chamber for 79 years. In addition to being the home of the annual state fair (meet me at the rocket!), the State Fair has donated over $3 million in scholarships for South Carolina students. The awards are given to South Carolina high school students planning to pursue their studies at any public or private college, university or technical college in the state.

General Manager Nancy Smith and her team are strong supporters of the Chamber's Military Outreach Group. Each quarter, the 100+ individuals who support military affairs convene at the Rosewood Building to discuss military-related initiatives and outreach. Additionally, the State Fair also recognizes veterans during the Fair celebration and offers discounts to military members and their family.

As a bit of trivia, the South Carolina State Fair was founded in 1869, and its self-perpetuating governing board is the State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina. Visit their website, Facebook, or Twitter to learn more about how the SC State Fair gives back to our community.

The Partner of the Month spotlights Chamber Partners who have shown great efforts in assisting the Chamber's mission to create and promote an environment where businesses can flourish in the region.
