There is something brewing in Northeast Columbia and it is not the Halloween witches brew you're thinking of, although when you step foot in the doors of Converspace, you might smell the delicious coffee brewing from Denean the Coffee Queen.
Since April 2019, the Columbia Chamber has partnered with Chamber Partners and businesses in Northeast Columbia to form the Northeast Connection. The Northeast Connection serves as an advocate for small businesses in the community and provides a forum for education, networking, and motivation. Shambi Broome, owner of Web Gyrlz Code, shares that hearing from the Office of Small Business Opportunities during the June meeting has made her more aware to connect with county offices for opportunities and events. Others speak about the networking opportunities and learning about businesses within the area that they didn't know existed.
Here are a few highlights from previous meetings:
- James Manning from Richland School District 2 provided updates on the school district
- Office of Small Business Opportunities with Richland County provided resources, upcoming event information and details on the business certification programs available
- Richland County Office of Economic Development gave updates on the overall growth of Northeast area and Richland County
- Martha Jones, Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships from Richland District 2 provided updates on community and business partnership opportunities
Our upcoming meeting focus is Cyber Security Safety Training and will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 8:00-9:00AM. You'll have an opportunity to network and hear Chamber updates, including networking events for the Northeast area.
Be sure to join us at Converspace, a creative space in the Village at Sandhills for businesses and groups to host events, gather for networking and grow their business through workshops and partner engagements like the Northeast Connection. Breakfast will be provided by Karen's Mobile Kitchen and Catering.
