Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
We offer the Lifeguarding certification at no cost as long as the applicant can pass a swim test. The swim test includes:
• Jump: Enter deep water, submerge, and return to the surface.
• Tread Water: 30 seconds to 1 minute.
• Swim: 25 yards (one length) on front/breaststroke without stopping and swim back to starting point.
• Exit: Exit the pool unassisted.
